Privacy policy

Paper Alert helps you find dates in documents, set reminders, and ask questions about the documents you save. This policy explains how information moves through those features.

Information you provide

When you capture or import a document, we process the images, extracted text, titles, dates, notes, and other fields you choose to save. Documents may contain personal or sensitive information. Only upload documents you have permission to use, and avoid unnecessary sensitive details.

We also process chat questions and responses, notification preferences, app settings, and a device-scoped guest credential used to associate your records with your app session; the current app does not require an email login. Permissions such as camera, photo access, and notifications are requested when needed for their features.

Cloud storage and AI processing

Paper Alert uses Convex for backend operations, document file storage, saved information, and document retrieval. Uploaded content leaves your device. This is not an offline-only or end-to-end encrypted document vault.

Google Gemini processes document images and text to suggest titles, fields, and important dates. DeepSeek may be used as an alternative AI provider and to answer questions using relevant saved document content. Document text is processed using Google Gemini embeddings into searchable representations to support retrieval. Saved chat threads are stored in Convex alongside document retrieval data. Your chat questions and relevant excerpts are sent to the AI provider handling that request.

Paper Alert uses Gemini through a Google Cloud project with active billing. Under Gemini paid-service terms, Google does not use submitted prompts and responses to improve its products, although limited safety and abuse-prevention logging may apply. AI providers process information under their own service terms and privacy policies. Paper Alert does not promise that every provider has the same retention or model-training policy. You can learn more from Google Gemini, DeepSeek, and Convex. Do not upload material whose confidentiality requirements are incompatible with this cloud processing.

Why we use information

• To extract and organize document information and let you review it.
• To save your documents, retrieve relevant material, and answer your questions.
• To schedule the reminders you select, support calendar export, and remember settings.
• To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and prevent abuse of the service.
• To support advertising, consent choices, and optional purchases where enabled.

Reminders and calendars

Scheduled reminders use device notification services and may show document titles or other reminder content on your lock screen. Manage notification visibility in Android settings. Delivery depends on device permissions, battery restrictions, time settings, and operating system behavior.

Calendar export is optional. When you export a date, the selected information is shared with the calendar app or destination you choose, under that service's privacy rules. Exported events and shared files are independent copies and are not automatically removed when you delete a Paper Alert record.

Advertising and consent

Ad-supported versions use Google AdMob, with Meta Audience Network mediation where configured. Advertising providers may process device and advertising identifiers, IP address, approximate location inferred from an IP address, ad interactions, diagnostics, and consent signals to deliver, measure, and protect advertising. Development builds use test ads.

Paper Alert does not intentionally send your document images, document text, or chat content to advertising networks for ad targeting. Available consent and privacy choices depend on your region and advertising configuration. Manage advertising privacy options in the app when offered and in your device settings. Optional purchases

If subscriptions or other purchases are offered, Google Play handles payment and RevenueCat helps manage purchase status and entitlements. These services may process transaction identifiers, product information, app identifiers, and purchase history. Paper Alert does not receive your full payment-card details. Retention and deletion

Saved documents and associated information remain available until deleted through the app or through a verified deletion request. Deleting a document removes the active record and related retrieval information; provider logs or backups may persist according to their retention practices. We do not claim immediate deletion from every backup or external provider.

You can delete individual documents or use the app's archive-deletion control, which also clears AI conversation history. Cloud cleanup is queued and may continue after the request is acknowledged. For help or an additional request, follow the data deletion instructions. Uninstalling the app alone does not request deletion of cloud records. Keep access to your app session until deletion is complete.

Security and international processing

We use access controls and service-provider security measures to protect information. No storage or transmission method is guaranteed secure. Our service providers may process information in countries other than your own, where privacy laws may differ.

Your choices and rights

You can choose which documents to upload, edit or delete saved information, turn off permissions, control notification previews, manage available advertising consent options, and stop using the service. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, or to receive a copy of your information. Contact us to make a request; we may need to verify control of the relevant records.

Children

Paper Alert is intended for adults aged 18 and older. If you believe a child has submitted personal information without appropriate permission, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

This website

This website is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Cloudflare may process technical request data, such as IP addresses and security logs, to serve and protect the site. We do not add analytics trackers or advertising cookies to this website. Email links open your email provider; messages you send are used to handle your enquiry.
